Booking online is not mandatory, but we do highly recommend doing so in advance. You can also buy your ticket at the Grotte Chauvet 2 Ardèche reception, subject to availability. Please note, no bookings are taken by phone.

The guided tour of the replica lasts around an hour. The (self-guided) tour of the Aurignacian Gallery lasts at least 45 minutes. You can visit this area either before or after your tour of the replica.

For standard tours, the prices are those indicated on our website.

Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.

No animals are allowed to access the site, except for guide and assistance dogs.

The temperature inside the Cave is around 16°C (61°F), depending on the time of year. In the summer, we advise you to bring a light jacket to prepare for the drop in temperature.

Yes; a picnic area can be found on the outside seating area above the restaurant.

The self-guided tour can be done either before or after the guided tour.

The time printed on your ticket only refers to the guided visit of the Cave. If you arrive late, we can replace your tickets subject to available spaces. If it is impossible for us to offer you another guided tour time, you will only be able to visit the other parts of the site: the Aurignacian Gallery, the wooded park, and the activities (see calendar).

“Chèques vacances” are only accepted at the ticket office at reception.

 The restaurant is open all year, with no need to book.

The site is closed to the public every evening. You can find specific camper van parking spaces opposite the Tourist Information Centre in Vallon Pont d’Arc, 6 km (4 miles) away.

You can borrow a wheelchair for free at the site entrance, in exchange for a piece of ID. 

You do not need to print your tickets. Simply download them to your smartphone in PDF format, and present them when you arrive.

You can use your ticket to come and go from the site as you wish; simply show it at reception.

You will need around 3½ hours to visit the site (the Cave, the Aurignacian Gallery, exhibitions/shows, activities and the gift shop).
