Clothing and body adornment

Necklaces, bracelets, pendants. For thousands of years, prehistoric people wore clothing and jewellery. These elements of dress and body adornment express a large range of social and personal values.
Come and discover what these artefacts tell us about our ancestors and the societies they lived in.

Prehistoric sculpture

The ancestors’ sense of beauty is visible in a multitude of different objects.

Our guides will introduce you to a selection of sculpted and engraved animal and female figurines, sculpted spear throwers and many other artefacts that demonstrate both skill and refinement.

How did prehistoric people hunt? What arms did they use? Did they hunt the animals that they drew in caves?

 After a brief introduction to the wildlife of the time and the associated hunting techniques, children and their families are invited to try out some spear throwing for themselves. Try out this prehistoric invention to find out if you are a hunter or a gatherer.
